  • SBS 2011 Std - Exchange Online Archiving

Hi, I wonder if I can get some assistance

Client has an SBS 2011 standard server. And an additional 2008 R2 box (member server) They would like to implement Exchange Online Archiving with SSO

Quite new to this so I'm presuming

ADFS 2.0 installed on the SBS Server
DirSync Installed on the 2008 R2 box.
I'm presuming I will need an ssl cert for adfs.customername.com
SBS server will be updated to Exchange 2010 SP3 before commencing this work

Do I need an ADFS proxy installon the 2008R2 box ?

I know essentials has the Office 365 tool to download for this purpose but how do I go about configuring this in SBS 2011 standard.

    Any help very much appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

What has ADFS got to do with a member server?

Iím honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.

      I think you misread,

      ADFS Proxy

However as the SBS server is already open to 443 then an ADFS proxy is not required on the member server.

        Not enough information.
        Where is your mail stored?
Why do you need any ADFS - Proxy or otherwise?
        TIA

I am not familiar with the service, but would have thought that the http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...xchg.141).aspx document covers what you need to know.
            TIA

Re: SBS 2011 Std - Exchange Online Archiving

You actually don't need an additional cert. Since the SBS box is also going to be your ADFS box, and ADFS gets installed in a vdir in the Default Web Site, the same cert used for SBS Exchange stuff will also be used for ADFS. The name on your existing cert will also be the name used for ADFS connections from Office365.

When a connection comes in it will go to
              Code:
              https://remote.mycompany.com/adfs
              instead of
              Code:
              https://remote.mycompany.com/owa
              .
