  • SBS 2003 to SBS 2011migration issue.

I am migrating from SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 for a customer. The migration is "stuck" at attempting to authenicate the administrator for the source system:
“verify that the domain name and log on credentials are correct and then try again”

Everything that I find on this points back to the wrong credentials (that is too obvious though) and or time sync issues.
Verified date and time settings on both servers (ok)
Verified date and time settings in BIOS on new server (ok)
While logged into new SBS server I can:
    Ping Active directory (company.local)
Ping source server name (without the FQDN)
Telnet to source server name port 389
Map a drive (net use) using the administrator credentials.

I have rebuilt the server as well, it gets halted at this point every time

Are you using the administrator account called "Administrator"?
If so then that account is blocked in SBS 2011. You have to create an equivalent account called e.g. admin or netadmin or sbsadmin - just not administrator.

I’m honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.
