  • SBS 2003 inaspi32 won't start?

    Morning all,

Just noticed in the event logs that inaspi32 won't start up.

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Service Control Manager
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 7000
    Date: 09/06/2012
    Time: 03:19:36
    User: N/A
    Computer: TX300
    Description:
The InAspi32 service failed to start due to the following error:
The data area passed to a system call is too small.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    The Win32_Exit_Code is 122

Googled the error really not much out there that I can see. Anyone have any ideas how to solve the error?

    Thanks

    Dave

This is not native to SBS 2003. I believe it is to do with some imaging/scanning/fax software. Have you or anyone else ever installed such?
    TIA

Iím honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.

      Thanks for your reply,

Just had a look on the server, I can't see any scanning software installed. There may well have been in the past tho... Can't see any services that arn't running either, something left over in the registry?

Worth doing a search witin the registry for keywords within the event viewer. Also, look within the Program Files folder itself.
