The only thing microsoft has provided me with was "Error: ERROR_INVALID_DATA(0x8007000d)

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance..

redownloaded it a couple times, through different ways, and no bueno.

wsus is completely screwed up. Coworker tried to uninstall it, unsuccessfully doing so, but successfully screwing it up- can't find a microsoft paper on how to properly uninstall it either.

AFAIK you can't actually uninstall WSUS, although I have seen attempts to upgrade WSUS effectively do that and then fail. It's pretty easy to rebuild though, here's a tutorial from the SBS Diva blog which also links to the relevant technet article.

Depending on your ISP's setup, you may be downloaded a cached copy of the file and it may be a corrupted one that you keep getting.

              to finish the thread,

called microsoft, and the awesome rep remoted in, ran a bunch of I guess custom ms apps, then disabled all non-ms services / startup, rebooted, and it installed perfectly.
