  • Deny permissions

    Hello

We are running an SBS 2003 box (with all the latest updates applied) , we have shared a folder on our server for the rest of the network to use.

Users shouldn’t have the ability to change permissions on the shared folder (none of them have ownership of the shared files or the permissions to do so), for some reason however users can set deny permissions, not any other permissions just deny permissions.

When I take a look at the effective permissions tab in security, users have the read permissions checkbox ticked but not change permissions.

Any ideas how I can stop users from setting deny permissions? Thanks for any help

    Re: Deny permissions

You need to check both NTFS and Share permissions, but basically if you give a user group
CHANGE share Permission and MODIFY NTFS permission, they can do everything except change permissions
