  • SBS 2003 to 2011migration Exchange problems

I have been migrating an SBS 2003 server to 2011 and have had problems with mail flow.
I was at the stage of removing Exchange from the 2003 machine when something - don't know what- died in AD on the old machine.
All users, mailboxes, address lists etc have been moved.
As a result I cannot uninstall Exchange. System manager will not fire up at all.
Therefore I can't remove the Exchange server from AD on the new DC.
I have removed the routing groups using the 2010 shell.
When I use ADSIEDIT to examine AD I find that the old server is there as an edge server.
The routing group master role is on the new server.
With the old server down, email goes out ok but not in.
So: I can't gracefuly remove EX 2003 entries from the 2010 machine, probably with ADSIEDIT.
    Can anyone help?

Did you move over public folders? They include offline address books and Free/busy info.
Without those, you are in trouble.
