  • Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008 Will Not Load

    Dear Petri members,

    I am a new member to this forum. I am facing a issue while configuring exchange 2007 in SBS 2008. The issue is that owa is not opening. It is showing error. There is another default web site running in the server too. Is there any way to resolve my issue. Also can any one advice me how to redirect owa in the IIS

    the error which i am getting while trying to access owa via https localhost\owa is...
    Server Error in '/owa' Application.

    Runtime Error

    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "RemoteOnly". To enable the details to be viewable on remote machines, please set "mode" to "Off".

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File --><configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly"/> </system.web></configuration>
    Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File --><configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/> </system.web></configuration>

    Re: Exchange 2007 owa issue

    The error you have posted tells you nothing about what the cause of the problem is. It is a generic ASP.NET error to hide the true error. You only see the real error on the server itself.

    Using localhost isn't advised with SBS due to the way it changes the configuration from a standard Exchange 2007 install.

    Therefore the first thing to do is run the Fix My Network wizard. If you are hosting another web site on the server you may well have to remove that, even as a temporary measure so that you can resolve the issue.

    I would also suggest that you run the SBS BPA against the system to see what that flags.

      Hai Experts

      I have replaced web config file but the issue still persists.
      In addition to that i removed CAS role, then removed IIS roles and its associated folders, then installed all the prerequisites for exchange 2007. then installed IIS and CAS role but the same error repeated while opening OWA.
      Hence I request you to please advice me in this regards

          What is with those Oracle references? That isn't an Exchange or Microsoft thing. Looks like something has interferred with the configuration of the web server.

            Re: Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008 Will Not Load

            On SBS you should be using the integrated setup and NOT trying to install Exchange 2007 as a regular install!
            I would go and start the whole setup again and avoid the headaches.
