    Outlook keeps asking for password

Hi, I have recently setup an SBS 2008 server and purchased a multi certificate from godaddy, installed it on the server.

The issue is that now after configuring outlook anywhere each time the users open outlook it asks for username and password - which doesnt matter if you save it or not as it asks again each time it is opened.

What can i do to stop this from happening - the users are complaining that they dont like having to login each time they need to use outlook.

Try installing the latest exchange rollup.

If the machines are members of the domain, then change the Outlook Anywhere setting to use NTLM instead of Basic. There will not be a prompt then.

However for clients not on the domain, they will still get prompts.

    Simon.

Go to the user accounts in control panel, look for Manage Your credentials, or similar wording for XP.
Add a new entry for *.yourexternaldomain.com

If the computer is not joined in the domain you may have to add the user ID as domain\user

Cleanout all older saved password that are no longer in use.

yes, the computers are joined to the domain and everything works great. this is the first server install that i have done that has utilized outlook anywhere, all others were using vpn previously.

i have tried setting it to save the password but it doesnt make any difference, any computer that connects externally via outlook anywhere will ask for the password whenever outlook is opened - internal users who do not use outlook anywhere never get prompted for the password.

So are you saying that every installation of SBS 2008 with Outlook Anywhere will always require that users enter there credentials when starting outlook? (not that i am disputing that, i just need to know to avoid having to scour the net to find out that this is how it is meant to be).

    Thanks

You can't, this behaviour is by design in Outlook Anywhere. Outlook over MAPI uses Integrated Windows Authentication so uses the credentials of the logged on user, Outlook Anywhere only supports NTLM or Basic Authentication.
