  • Can't send or receive email

Hi - I'm hoping some people still look at the SBS 2003 forums!

    I've got a customer who has SBS 2003 SP2.

    No incoming or outgoing mail.

    I've tried:

    - SMTP has been reinstalled.
    - Send connectors manually removed and deleted
    - Repair my internet + email wizard (or whatever it's called)
    - Nothing showing in queues.
    - SMTP seems to be fine as I can send telnet emails to remote domains.
    - Nothing much in the event log.
    - I can telnet to the server on 25 - when I get to rcpt to: it doesn't say 'Recipient OK' as normal...
    - When sending mail to that domain, I get a 5.0.0:

    Diagnostic information for administrators:
    Generating server: SBS-SERVER.CGPitcherandSon.local
    [email protected]
    #< #5.0.0> #SMTP#

I hope someone can help - thanks in advance.

Have tried with and without Recipient filtering on the SMTP virtual server.

    Internal mail is affected too.

Hi - just for reference SMTP had become detached from exchange.

I used the tool smtpreinstall.exe which is available in the win 2000 SP3 download. Copy it to c:\program files\exchsvr\bin.

        ran it.
        rebooted server.
