  • How to migrate SBS 2000 system disk

    Hello!
I think the system drive in our SBS 2000 is slowly starting to die. I got a new HDD and cloned the partitions to the new HDD (also increased the size of the new partitions).
When I try to boot the server with the new HDD I get a Inaccessible_Boot_Device BSOD and the server fails to boot.

An ideas how I should clone the existing system HDD to a new drive successfully?

    Thank you.

Do you have a recent system state backup?

If not, see if you can mount the drive on another PC and copy everything -- use XCopy to retain permissions and copy hidden and system files -- to a new drive

You may be able to boot off that without recreating the boot sector.
