I plan to use roaming profiles on a new SBS 2008 server. If I have a user's home folder created on an SBS 2008 server and I user folder redirection, are the contents of the home folder duplicated in the redirected folders or does the redirected folders only have pointers to the home folders?

Folder redirection means just that. Rather than being directed to the local profile as is normally it will be directed to a path of your choice that you specify in Group Policy. Theres nothing to stop you from redirecting "Appdata, My Documents, Desktop etc " though to the Home folder.
Additionally roaming profiles plus folder redirection is somewhat of a messy setup. Use one or the other for simplicity. Plus login times for users is speeded up if there's less data to copy across the network on initial logon.

Also be wary of multiple client OS's. Windows XP uses V1 profiles, Vista and 7 use V2 profiles and MS recommendations are never to roam between the two types.
