  • 32 bit or 64 bit DWORD?

    Hello,

I have a SBS 2008 installation that experienced a number of panic boots, good old HP DL380 G6! Server is now in journal wrap mode.

I want to create a DWORD entry "Enable Journal Wrap Automatic Restore"

Should it be 32bit or 64bit?

    Thanks,

The 32 bit dword is what you need. YMMV, but I have had better luck with the BurFlags D2 setting fixing the Journal Wrap Error. ~ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290762

      Thanks BigStan,

How do you know when to select 32 bit or 64 bit?

You say BurFlags D2 setting worked better for you, Can you please explain in which way?

      Thanks,

Well, some one may post a more technical explanation, but actually I tried both a 32 and a 64 bit dword on a sever and only the 32 bit one worked..

The Enable Journal Wrap Automatic Restore registry setting didn't work for me a few times. The BurFlags registry setting has worked every time.

          Thanks BigStan,

I will use the BurFlags registry setting tonight via RDP.

I believe the server is in journal wrap due to a number of panic boots. After updating the ILo2 firmware to the latest version I am hopeful that the panic boots are a thing of the past.

          Thanks again.
