  • Adding Another Server to a SBS 2011 Deployment

    Hi

I have a SBS 2011 server obviously as a DC on my domain, I need to add another Windows 2008 application server (not a DC) , just a standalone server to run a SQL app. Is there an option when installing 2008 for it not to be a DC or is it default and I have to demote it?

Will the new W2008 server join the domain Ok ?

Just join it to the domain - it will never become a DC unless you make it so

I agree with Ossian. DC it's not install by default when you create a new Windows Server 2008. You must install a Role in your Server.
