  • setting new Sharepoint Site as default?

    Hi there,

I am new to sharepoint and what seems like a simply task is driving me nuts!!

I have set up a new Sharepoint site which will act and the business's sharepoint 'portal', now what I want to do is make that site the DEFAULT url when users access Sharepoint via remote console or internally default to COMPANYWEB which is what it's preset to...

I beleive this involved changing the URL in IIS or something??

I also tried 'Alternate Access Mappings' under 'operations' in Sharepoint central admin but it doesn't accept the new site URL??

    Could someone please assist. Thanks

FYI the new url for example purposes is: http://server1:4721/newsite

Re: setting new Sharepoint Site as default?

so you want the new address to be the homepage instead of http://companyweb?

Or you want to make the sharepoint website think it is http://companyweb ?
Please do show your appreciation to those who assist you by leaving Rep Point

The idea is to make a new site I created the MAIN site for the intranet and remote, so users only see the info within that site as I set it up.

But maybe i don't understand how sharepoint works
