  • SBS2008 unable to access XP and 2003 shares

    Hello,

I have a new SBS2008 installation, where the 2008 server is unable to access shares on the retired SBS2003 server it has replaced. The SBS2003 server has been demoted and is now simply a dumb fileserver now.

The error is "Windows cannot access \\<servername>." with a detail of "Error code 0x80070035 The network path was not found".

The 2008 server is also unable to access shares on XP machines. However it IS able to access shares on Windows 7 machines.

Other machines ARE able to access shares on the 2003 server.

Machines are equipped with McAfee VirusScan 8.7, but they have access protection disabled. Firewalls are also disabled. TCP over Netbios helper service is started on both machines (seen this come up a few times as a solution.

I tried installing IPv6 on the 2003 server, but this had no effect.

    Any help much appreciated,

    Will

    check this:

and try the first response - disabling IPv6 to see if it helps..

Eh, I don't recommend disabling IPv6 on 2008, if that is what you mean.
