  • Slow Windows Explorer response high CPU load

Since a while the Windows Explorer of our SBS2008 server have slowed down.
It takes 10-20 sec or so until a folder opens or a browser window closes.
    CPU load of Explorer 50-60%.
Server performance is OK so far. Total Commander can browse without delay.
Starting the server in safe mode without any additional services or protection software did not help. Creating other user profile did not help neither.

    Any help would be appreciated.

have you run any performance monitor counters at all ?
That's usually a good place to start...

how do you have 5GB of physical ram ?
it sounds like your RAM isn;t appropriately matched, unless you have something like 2x2 and 2x512MB ?
Please do show your appreciation to those who assist you by leaving Rep Point https://www.petri.com/forums/core/im.../icon_beer.gif

It's a Dell PowerEdge SC1430 comes with 5 GByte default.
I suppose it should be appropriately matched.
Windows Explorer performance counter % processor time runs up to 100 % when windows explorer starts or a folder is going to be opened. Than relaxes...
