  • Is there needed an extra http:// prefix in local DNS server records?

SBS2008 we have some occasional Sharepoint page access problem from workstation, which sometimes works as expected.
But sometimes add new item to discussion button results in a new error page with DNS error. When going back few steps and trying again the link may work normally.

Troubleshhoting I have yet done -
but I'm not sure if it really is a DNS problem but "mycompanyweb" nslookup from workstation is resolved correctly while "http:/mycomanyweb" fails.

Is there missing some (http:// prefix) in local DNS server???

    Thanks in advance

Are you trying to access the page by http://www.mycomanyweb or just http://mycomanyweb ? for www you have to create multiple host record for load-balancing....

You may enalbe round robin option if you have multiple DNS servers and create host record for "mycomanyweb". Make sure you have a valid reverse lookup record for this page.

Check the IIS how it is configured for the web access...
