  • List which folders users or groups have permissions set on

I'm wanting to generate a list of groups (and optionally users) under which list all of the folders of which they have permissions set on (be they allow or deny).

Does anyone know how I could do this?
(Please provide an example if your answer is a script)
I've been using this online backup for all my photos, docs, spreadsheets, powerpoints & emails for years now & it works great.

The command line is "cacls" but its output is not very user friendly.

Iím honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.

Thanks, that looks like just what I was after.

Here's what I came up with as a test for my local computer to start with:
      icacls C:\Data\* /save c:\Temp\AclFile.txt /T

I have absolutely no idea what the resulting file means though , is there some way of interpreting the generated data?

Have a look via the Gui on what permissions there are on a sample directory. Cross reference that with what is writen in the file and it should give you a clue!
