  • SBS 2008 Migration. dcpromo before uninstalling Exchange. How do I fix it?

I am doing a migration from sbs 2003 to sbs 2008 and hit a snag. I skipped a step in the migration. I did not uninstall Exchange from the old server before I ran dcpromo. My error--please don't call me names I have already done that. Exchange is still installed on the old server and it is still part of the domain. I am trying to determine how to repair my blunder.
    1) Can I possibly re-run dcpromo and undo my mistake? I wish it was this easy... If so what would be my steps?
    2) Uninstall Exchange on the old server now and try to manually fix the issues that would be left behind? What would be my steps? Is this link ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833396 ) what I should do?
    3) Other options?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Have all the mailboxes and "roles" been moved/transferred to the new server? I don't think that KB is appropriate because it is mostly relevant for a single Exchange server, whereas you effectively have 2 servers with connectors. Have you tried www.msexchange.org, as they have some good forums.
I would be hesitant to give advice in your situation as it is not something I have come across.
    TIA

Iím honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.
