  • Trust relation between SBS 2000 and DC 2003

    Hi all

On site A I have SBS 2000 installed
    On site B I have DC 2003 + Exchange server 2003
The two sites are connected via "site to site VPN".

I want to create a trust relation between the two domain in order to move the users, the users' data and their mailboxes.

I am not sure I can do this with SBS 2000 connecting to AD 2003 environment.

    Any suggestions

I beleive that provided it's a trust between domains in the same forest, and not a trust between two forests, it should be ok.

alternately - i think it's also possible to do a trust between a domain in one forest and a domain in the other..

    the fact that's it's SBS shouldn't matter I don't beleive..

take a look at the ADMT application if you haven't already

I don't think you can create external trusts in sbs 2000 http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=295765

SBS is a single domain/forest solution where the SBS server must be head of the forest (FSMO roles etc)
What you could do, since IMHO it is way past time to upgrade SBS 2000, is buy a new SBS 2008 server and introduce it into the DC 2003 domain (since it already has Exchange.
Alternatively, you could exmerge the mailboxes from the site B domain and abandon it then add the 2003 server as a DC in the SBS domain.

Could be a complex migration IMHO.

          Thanks guys for your replays.
At the end of the day I exported each user's mailbox to PST, and copied the entire user's profile to the desired location (Terminal Server).
After attaching the new user to the old profile all I had to do is to add the PST file.

          Simple, Long, Works !
