  • Admt sbs 2003->2008

    So, i thought this would be a common job to do, since sbs2003 admin's would want to upgrade their domain to 08 and keep the AD database, or at least migrate it over with the help of exmerge for exchange... i can't seem to find that much info in regards to migrating the sbs domains but keeping the same domain name.... company.local? i've read that you cannot have the same domain name, that really sucks considering the few about of items that i am actually migrating from my 2003 mess.

    Hope that makes sense, thanks guys!

    Edit: Yes i saw the migration question from 2000->2008 and yes i have the ADMT document from microsoft for 2003-2008 without mentioning the domain name keeping or not..

    thx

    I think you can have the same name if you do a two-step migration, first to a virtual machine and then to the original/or new hardware.
