  • SBS2000, strange NTBACKUP problems

Hi All, really hope someone can help with this really strange problem.....

Issue: I'm having a small problem with NTBACKUP. When I run a backup, everything runs fine (The System Backs up and Verifies OK).

Now the strange bit, IF a don't EJECT the tape from the tape drive I can restore from the tape with out any problems

    BUT

if I eject the tape and re insert it into the drive NTBACKUP throws up a message saying "The Media is Unrecognized or not Formatted, then something about it being written to in a different application, then an option to Prepare the media, select Yes to Prepare and NO to eject.

    Strange

The tape can be read and restored in a simular tape drive. I've also installed the drive in a differnet Windows 2000 machine and it works fine.

The Drive is a Sony SDX-420c
System is Windows 2000 SBS with SP4 on Windows

Please help, its driving me nuts

    Thanks

    Nigel
