I had a problem that the av restricted access to html emails even though they were clean from viruses.

if you wanted to delete the emails the outlook "said" that the email cannot be deleted.
i have to move the email to the deleted items and then i have to empty the deleted item.

because this thing the veritas backup exec faild to backup those emails.
so i had to manually delete them.
    Good Luck

          Nice answer.
          Why of course?
Outlook express can be used for pop3.

so from what I see no one has ever experienced anythin odd about symantec 4.5 on a non standard exchange (i.e. - one that is a part of an SBS installation.)

              Is that correct?

I just remember that I once installed SAV SMSMSE incorrectly and for 8 hours all mail in the company was rejected/quarantined. I found the quickest way to repair was to uninstall and re-install - a 2hr process mostly because reboots of the server took 20mins each time.
                  TIA
