  • RDP'ing into SBS 2008

Just got back from installing a SBS 2008, but not all is finished... and I need to connect remotely. Unfortunately I cannot seem to do this. I am using "Microsoft Remote Desktop connection Client for Mac" (version 2.0.0 Beta 3 - so RDP protocol 6.0) as client.

    - when on site, I could connect to the server and log in (as admin).
    - off site, I can log onto Outlook Web Access and Remote Web Workplace (so standard required ports are open).
    - off site, I cannot connect via RDP.

I thought that port 443 was enough for RDP; however do I have to open any other ports? (I saw port 3389 mentioned elsewhere on the web earlier). I figure that Remote Desktop is configured correctly as I could connect when on site.

Do I have to open port 3389? What else can I check?

    Thanks in advance

RDP uses TCP3389 you'll need to forward that port to the server

      A bit late, but thanks.

I opened up that port on the router (for a specific IP only) and I could connect.
