  • Event ID 1091 filling up XP Pro Clients

    Heya,

This is really puzzling me... id really appreciate some help. Im starting to tear my hair out.

    Setup:
    Windows SBS 2003 R2 SP1 Server
    Windows XP Pro SP2 Clients

    Problem:
There are hundreds of Event ID 1091's logged in the clients event viewer, and new ones seem to appear around every 2 hours. The error states:
"The Group Policy client-side extension Internet Explorer Branding failed to log RSOP (Resultant Set of Policy) data. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension."

    Other Symptoms:
    During my attempts to repair the situation i have found;

Running gpresult from the client shows all the usual information, but all of the policies (ie Applied Group Policy Objects) just say N/A... Even though the policies ARE applied.

    userenv.log on the client shows:
"USERENV(290.1fc) 19:54:31:499 GetGPOInfo: Local GPO's gpt.ini is not accessible, assuming default state.
USERENV(290.3dc) 20:51:19:902 GetGPOInfo: Local GPO's gpt.ini is not accessible, assuming default state.
    USERENV(290.45 20:51:20:121 PolicyChangedThread: UpdateUser failed with 6.
USERENV(290.1fc) 21:41:19:833 GetGPOInfo: Local GPO's gpt.ini is not accessible, assuming default state."

Running rsop.msc from the client, i see the following under User Configuration:
"Internet Explorer Branding failed due to the error listed below and failed to log resultant set of policy information."

There seems to be no visible problems on the server... all these issues show up on the clients only.

    Any ideas?

Im completely stumped and this is reallt bugging me. Ive got no idea where to go now. I swear ive read every Google result and followed every suggestion.

    Regards
