  • SBS2003 exchange smtp problem after Natural disaster

    Hi to all,

After a natural disaster earlyer this week in which we lost power on our servers and they crashed (server is Dell Poweredge 2900 with SBS2003 installed which is my DC and DNS for AD and my exchange ).

i have a problem with my exchange server on my sbs2003 server : after bringing up the server i can still send emails out but when i get emails in the are stuck in "messages pending submission" which constant says "retry"
there all incomming emails stay stuck , i removed them in the hope to get it flowing again, did iisreset and i tested the Active Directory with dcdiag and everything is functional, all seems normal except when i as admin send an internal mail: the header reaches everyone within my domain in theyre outlook, but when they click on the message to open it, it sais: can't open this item.

Please help me solve this puzzle

I would suggest that you call Microsoft.
It would seem that your Exchange database is corrupt. Microsoft are the best people to help here. It will cost, but it will be a good investment.

I would also suggest a UPS, so that the server is shut down gracefully.

      Simon.

All of Sembee's suggestions are good, but a minute before you call MS, try recreateing the virtual SMTP server. This may help. As a final step, re-run the CEICW.
