  • Email provider rejects password when connecting

I'm trying to add a new email account to an existing user on SBS 2003. I used the POP3 connector manager to add the new account for the user, and added the email address to the user properties.
When I test the connection, the email hosting provider rejects the password. Several current users already access email successfully on this same provider with their own user names and passwords.
What could be going on? Is the password getting garbled going through the server?
    Any help would be appreciated.

The password in the POP Connector and the external email account must be the same. Creating an account in Exchange, adding it to the POP Connector does not synchronise the passwords with the external account you are POPing to.

Thanks, Biggles77. You are right about checking that option.
The real problem turned out to be in Outlook. When I configured the email, I set the username to X rather than [email protected].
