  • Small Business Server 2000 restarts

The SBS 2000 restarts unexpectedly once or twice a month. The events in the Event log are: "The previous system shutdown at 5:02:16 AM on 3/11/2005 was unexpected. " and "System Information Agent: Health: The server is operational again. The server has previously been shutdown by the Automatic Server Recovery (ASR) feature and has just become operational again. [SNMP TRAP: 6025 in CPQHLTH.MIB] ".

What can be the reason for the server restart?
I have some suspisions that DHCP server service is the reason because for two months I disabled the service and the server did not restart during that time. I configured the DHCP again and the server started to reboot. So can badly configured DHCP restart the server?

Thank you for the help in advance.

Just out of interest, is it a Compaq server? Just as this runs the Automatic Server Recovery Service (ASR). Dont know much about it, but i'd look into the Compaq management logs to see if this is the root of the problem.

I noticed this may be in your event log.

I'd disable this Service for troubleshooting purposes!
