  • SecAttsConfig.xml not working???

    Hello.
I've read some posts about managing attachments in Exchange SBS 2003 with SecAttsConfig.xml file by manually editing this file. Well, I tried to add ppt and pps files as true (blocked attachments) but the users in our organization can still receive the ppt and pps files attachments...
I restarted the server and still nothing. The original blocked files attachments are working but if I want to manually add a new file attachment to the blocked list it is not working...
    What is wrong here???

What is wrong here is that you didn't UTFW (see: http://forums.petri.com/showthread.php?t=12285)

When you run the CEICW, it gives you the easy way to block attachments - no need for XML files etc.
    TIA

Iím honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.

      Thanks.

I knew about the wizard and I used it the first time when I configured the server, but initially I didn't want to block .pps and .ppt attachments. I thought that I can add new exclusion to this xml list as an "simple" way to make modifications (just one enter in run dialog and one click - edit)...running the configuration wizard every time that you change just an attachment filter just plain sucks...

      Thanks anyway...

          Yeah...
Still I found on the internet a free JS script that can filter attachments - it is written for .pif and .scr files that are now blocked by default in SBS Exchange 2003 but can be adapted for any other kind of attachment just by modifying two lines of code- credits go to the autor Pťter Karsai...
