  • Additional SBS2003 with Roaming Profiles and Folder Redirections

    Dear All,

I am using SBS 2003 having Active directory with roaming profiles and folders rediretions, Exchange 2003 setup is working properly, but now I want to install SBS 2003 with additional active directory and exchange as a backup server with additional MX record setting to set priorties,

is it possible to configure SBS 2003 with additional Active Directory with roaming profiles and folder redirections if possible then how can I feine a route or map roaming profiles and folder directions to both servers where if primary SBS goes down I can have another Additional Active Directory???

Exchange can be install as a backup server?

kindly guide me to configure this senario...!

    Thanks in advance,
    Regards..

    Hi,

    - you can't have two SBS 2003 Domain Controllers in the same Domain.
    - only 1 SBS as the primary DC but you can add 2 DC with server 2003 STD/ENT if you wish and setup as a backup domain controller for the same domain/AD

You can only have one SBS in an Active Directory. SBS supports the addition of Windows 2000 and 20003 DC's, but they must not use SBS media. All non-SBS flavours of Windows 2000/2003 are supported.

My take on this (as always) is better spending time getting your SBS backup and running instead of reconfiguring your network whilst it is down. I mean, DHCP, DNS and Exchange as well as default gateway and other items may have to be reconfigured. Then you will have to resychronise all your Exchange data, sharepoint and other databases - not worth the investment IMHO. Fix the main SBS instead.
