  • Exchange in maintenance mode

Hi I was wondering if exchange running in maintenance mode would cause messages to fail to be delivered externally through DNS ?

I had a user complain that they got 3 email delayed messages yesterday. Everything looked fine no event logs crept up and all services are running as normal.

The only thing I found is as shown in the attachment, that my server is currently running in maintenance mode.

Can I stop this or should I leave it to run it's course.

    Not enough info here.
What are you running SBS2000 or 2003? What are you showing in the attachment?
    Need more to work with.
    TIA

Iím honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.

As for exchange being in maintenance mode this link resolved this problem.

Usually, this is not your problem - unless it is happening to all your messages. If you are concerned, do an NSLOOKUP for xxxxxxx.co.uk's mail server and try :
telnet <mail>.xxxxxxx.co.uk 25 to see if there is a response. If their server is down, after a few hours of trying you will get the above message - up until 4 days usually, then you will get a delivery failure report.
          TIA

            Thanks teiger.

That's what I was looking for, confirmation that it was not our problem.
