  • SBS cert error

    Hi all !

    I inherited an exchange server and the certificates are not working with it. I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction...

    External = companyname.com
    Internal = companyname.office

    Our website is hosted elsewhere and our email is forwarded to our external IP that then goes down to exchange.

    Outlook is only accessible externally through our company VPN, users must be connected to this to use OWA.

    The problem arose when I tried to connect a user using Ubuntu and it will not accept the certificate as it is addressed with our external name (.com)
    Can someone explain how I can edit this to our internal (.office) name.

    Any help will be much appreciated 

    Re: SBS cert error

    You can setup split DNS so internally users resolve your .com to the internal IP of the server as well. Just add a new zone called domain.com and then add A records for something like webmail.domain.com or whatever your cert says.

    Make sure you add in a record for you website (www) that still points externally otherwise this will fail.

    Have a look at this and follow Sembee's Link

        Thanks AndyJG247

        That worked !

        Created a new zone with the .com and a A record and it worked first time!

        Thanks again....

          Re: SBS cert error

          Excellent news. Make sure you add a www record so your internal users can still resolve your website.

          It was Sembee's original post so make sure you add a rep point to him.

              Re: SBS cert error

              where you added the webmail record just add "www" as another record with the public IP.
              cheers
