  • Remote access question

    Hi

When you set up Remote access to your internal website do you need to buy a domain. Or can i just type in any webaddress.

Will I be able to access that SBS WEBSITE while i am away?

    Thanks

    Andy

    Re: Remote access question

You do not need to buy a domain.

When I connect to my company's network from home, I can use all the internal links which are not published over the Internet.

      Hi

Does that mean my internal website could be e.g. www.AndySBS1990.com? would that work even if I'm in a different building.

      Thanks for the responce

        Re: Remote access question

And how would your computer know how to get to www.AndySBS1990.com? You could put its IP address in a hosts file, I suppose, but then if your IP changed, you would need to amend it - constantly. Not the way it's usually done.
SBS can generate a self-signed certificate to allow you to use SSL to a registered domain.
