  • Server 2003 R2 as BDC for SBS2003

I am looking at a SBS 2003 Server that I think is just plain SP2 not R2, and I want to add a BDC which is a brand new install of Server 2003 R2 SP2.

I am not 100% positive how to tell if the SBS is R2 or not, does anybody have a black and white test that will tell me.

Has anybody had experiance with this, will they play nice together or will I need to upgrade the SBS2003 to R2.

I really do not want to do any upgrades/changes to the SBS server as it has exceeded the 75 users and needs the transition pack badly. In other situations I had to run ADPrep, then turn around and run ADPrep from a different directory on the CD to get it all to work.

    Black & white test: Try

SBS does not have to be upped to R2 in order to make Server 2003 R2 SP2 play nicely with it.

Sounds like you need to apply the transition pack for sure, which will remove the 75 user restriction.
    Best wishes,
