  • external hard drive with sbs 2003

I would like to use an external usb hard drive with the SBS 2003 premium edition server for nightly backup. Will this work? If so, is there any particular make or model suggested. Many manufacturers say their drives will not work with servers!!! Don't get that since I will format the drive with ntfs and plug it into a usb port.

Off course it's work, if the vendors said if their products not suitable with server's OS why you don't find others vendor? Maybe it's drivers problems with their product (I'm sure if there're alot of USB drive available out there). The point is your computer can recognize that drive and you must choose the correct partion system, that's it. I've been using USB drive for third backup in my network and no problems with it. If you're not yet choose a backup program, considering to use Syncback (freeware). It's a nice software and free....
