  • Removing SBS

We have 'inherited' a SBS 2003 server that is running Exchange and IIS. These services are no longer required but I need to keep the server up as a DC.

Can I just stop the services for Exchange and IIS or is there more to it?

    Thanks

    Re: Removing SBS

You can just stop those services, but I don't recommend stopping IIS. All the wizards and server management will stop, companyweb will no longer work and you will no longer get reports on the servers health from SBSmonitoring.
And SBS as holder of all the FSMO roles (You cannot transfer them) must remain head of the domain and forest if you are planning on adding other servers/DCs.
    TIA

Iím honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.
