  • Fortinet: 4 users in specific group - policy applied for two only

    Hi all,

We have a "web admin" group where users can access to share file services for downloading files. We have 4 users in this group and 2 of them have an full access other two don't. All 4 users belongs to exactly same groups. I can figure out why

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks

Is this NTFS permissions or Group Policy related?

    If NTFS:
Are the two problem users in another group with deny permissions
Have you checked "Effective Permissions" for the user

    If Group Policy:
    Have you checked RSoP?
What is the actual policy setting?

      Hi Ossian,

It is Group Policy. Users are exactly in same groups. All 4 users were fine. One day 2 of them reports that can not access internet the way they could. Nothing has been change, no groups added/removed no policy change.

What policy settings are being used to manage them - is it a proxy server?

We use Fortinet, groups are managed from Fortinet.

I'm really not clear where group policy comes into things?

Re: 4 users in specific group - policy applied for two only

              ok, lets make it simple:

              1. Group - WebAdmin: Full access
              2. Group - Social Media: Block all sites which are not work related (except facebook, twitter, G+)
              3. Group - internet: Block all website which are not work related

              1. group - 4 people
              2 group - 2 people
              3. rest of company

              1. group - 2 people works fine , other two lost privileges worked fine before.
              2. group - works for everyone
3 group - works for everyone

              1. group everyone has same set up , same policy applied

The problem is that there was no changes made to groups nor policy. It should work

OK, so we are not talking about Active Directory Group Policy - a completely different beast. Nor do we appear to be talking about Windows Security Groups.

It sounds as if this is a Fortinet problem, so I'm moving the thread to the Security forum for a possible better response
