  • problem with ISA SERVER

    i have installed isa server 2006 enterprise beta on windows server 2003 sp2. and configured rules. things are going well. but i cant open the http://update.microsoft.com website neighter on ISA server nor clients behind that ISA SERVER.
    Please reply with solution.

    Do your rules include one to allow the local host (ISA Server) to contact the internet or at least the URL you gave on ports 80 & 443? Without that you're not going to get ISA to talk to anything outside of itself.

    Same thing applies to any client sitting behind ISA. Without access rules to allow the traffic, show's over. Because it's a stateful firewall, you shouldn't have to worry about creating inbound rules, at least.

        My magic globe doens't work well near London....
        So any errors, what rules did you opened up etc?

        RicklesP, it isn't really a best practice to open op rules to allow anyone to internet from the ISA server itself...

          That's not correct, at least not in the context of the OP's question. Windows Update websites are by default allowed from anywhere by the system policy.
