We are looking at Forefront 2010 for our client AV package when we renew our EA agreement in the next 2-3 months. We haven't seen a lot of references in terms of people that have deployed this solution enterprise wide.

Does anyone have experience with Forefront 2010 in their enviroment as a client AV solution? If so, what's your thoughts on the product and how does it compare to what you were using before?

We investigated it last year as it looked much cheaper than some of the alternatives. However it was pretty complex in terms of setup and the documentation was poor. The clincher though was that SQL Server is required, it would not install with a SQL Express backend and that took the cost way above renewing the existing AV. Not an issue if you already have SQL, but a big problem for small companies. Because of this we never actually evaluated the product.

I am running the previous version. The documentation is not always really clear, but if you just follow the step by step install that will not be a problem. The product is doing it's job just fine. It is the Microsoft Security Essentials product with a management layer in Operations Manager. So if you are a MS shop, it is the way to go.
