  • LAN - WLAN with Notebooks in the Company-Network

    Hi All,

In our company we use laptops with LAN and WLAN. Our safety officer now wishes that only one connection is possible. Swindler conjunction with the corporate network via LAN or WLAN. If a user his laptop from the docking station (LAN), so WLAN is to be automatically activated pulpy. Once the notebook is coming back into the docking station, the WLAN will be switched off. This should be done automatically without any action by the user.
Can I do this with a GPO or a program. Has anyone of you an idea to solve this problem??

    We have a W2K3 Domain
    WindowsXP SP2 Clients
    Fujistu LifebookE Series - Notebooks

    Thanks again to all even

    Regards

Disable the Wireless service for the Docked hardware profile.

Ok, this is a way. But in the Company not good.
With Hardware-Profiles you must restart the Computer when you want change from LAN to WLAN and from WLAN to LAN.
The User want Disconnect from dockingstation and than (without any reboot) he want to be connect to the WLAN automaticly. That is my Problem.

Do the WLAN and LAN have different security profiles, e.g. is the WLAN a public lan or connected to the same network?

I had a customer with this requirement and what we did was to disable the NIC in the undocked profile and disable the Wireless NIC in the docked profile. Worked fine and no reboot was required.
