  • Group Policy/ auditing to track transfers to external usb drives OR Software

    Hi Guys

I have users who logon to various terminal servers 03/08 & we have rdp disk redirection & external ftp enabled.

    A theorectical situation for you.

User Bob smith is planning on quitting in 2 weeks & taking as much data goodness as he can get his hands on to view on his own home pc & potentially take to the opposition. Bob Smith has full access to management level data & has the ability to work from home via rdp & transfer files at will between the server & his home pc through either ftp, disk redirection or email.

We can track emails sent/received through archiving/journaling. But is there any inbuilt microsoft auditing that tracks transfer of files between a work server & a laptop ( the laptop is not part of the domain) for an authorised user.?

I can create group policies to prevent disk redirection for unauthorised OU/groups, but Bob Smith has full access as he is upper management.

The best I could come up with is 3rd party products like the following which i am yet to trial:

    http://www.thenetworlduk.net/devicew...l_software.asp

    http://www.guardianedge.com/

Has anyone tried these products? Has anyone needed to deal with this sort of scenario? What did you do to get around these endpoint security holes?

    Would appreciate so advice/feedback.
