  • tomcat 5 and SSL

we have a windows 2003 sp2 server with tomcat 5.5 installed for a web evaluation software. we have to open the software to the internet and want to use SSL for people to login.. to have enhanced security..

Is there any documentation on how to create the certificate in windows and then apply it to tomcat?
i don't want to use tomcat's ssL rather user windows or purchase it.

Many thanks to all who reply

        Re: tomcat 5 and SSL

What part of it is confusing you? I am not familiar with it either but just follow the manual and see i.e.
In step one go to Start - Run and paste in the
        Code:
%JAVA_HOME%\bin\keytool -genkey -alias tomcat -keyalg RSA
        and enter.

You are only testing it at the moment aren't you? don't be affraid to try new things (Unless in a production environment) otherwise you won't learn.

              Re: tomcat 5 and SSL

You might be better off buying a certificate at godaddy, verisign or whatever.
Otherwise you will get everytime a prompt that the SSL certificate is invalid
