  • Logs not being retain for longer than a week in Microsoft ISA Server 2004.

I am trying to query events that occurred over a week ago, but when performing the search I am unable to find any hits. I know they exist, because I found them last week. I think the problem is because my logs aren't being retained for longer than a week. I copied what I thought was the logs for that day to another location, but when I place them back to the original location I still get the same result. Any help is greatly appreciated.

From your ISA management console, what do you see if you select the logging tab and then options button ?

For options I only get Disk Cleanup. Do you know if there is an option on how long logs are retained?

        Yes there is.
Go to the dasboard in the ISA console and go to the logging tab.
There you can configure the logging settings and how long it should be retain.

What happens to the logs after the time limit expires and what is the default?

The log files will be overwritten with new data (or removed) and I'd believe the default is 30 days.

I noticed what might be a time stamp within the logs names. Do those correspond with the actual date and will it contain that data for the exact date or day prior?
