Re: Outlook & isa server 2006

    Need some more info.

Are these remote clients trying to connect to the Mail server protected by ISA, or are the clients behind ISA trying to connect to an external mail server? What protocols are each client using? E.g Windows Mail and Outlook Express can't connect to an Exchange server using MAPI but Outlook can.

Regarding the Internet access, are all of your clients setup to use ISA as a proxy server? Are your internet access rules on ISA configured for All Users or do you have a seperate Internet Users group?

      For the outlook issue:
Install the firewall client on the client and in the ISA console change Outlook from 1 to 0.

      For the internet access issue:
You can create rules based on authentication. All users also include the users who shouldn't have access.
By creating separate rules (explicit deny rule above) for a no internet group and a internet group can solve this.
Do you have an AD environment and is ISA server joined to the domain?

Re: Outlook & isa server 2006

        thanks guys 1st for Dumber.

I have ISA Client installed on all clients.

Yes i have active directory and all users get authanticated through AD.

Clients behind the ISA Server using outlook unable to access email on non exchange server email it's linux hosting.

Windows Mail and Outlook Express works fine but outlook unable to connect to the server at all and i am using pop and smtp not mapi as exchange is not involve at all.

I have rules where some user's are not allowed to access the internet at all and some are allowed with full access to the internet.

rest of the things works fine but only outlook is the one which i am unable to understand why not connecting.

even I have created the ISA rule from ALL to ALL for group who are allowed to access the internet even then they are unable to use ISA Server.

I try googling but all i am getting is either how to publish owa and other issues but this one no luck yet that's why i am posting it here.

        Thanks....

        Best..

To make outlook to work you have to edit the Firewall Client Settings in the ISA server console.
          sorry if I wasn't clear
