    I am trying to send an email form our internal mail server to an external address
    through an 2004 isa server can anybody help pls

      Also what does the logging say, what mailserver, what mailclient, is the mailserver published etc.
      You really need to clarify much more.

        whem trying to send outgoing mail iget the msg :

        <[email protected]> (mail.company.dom: DNS lookup failed)

        what should be configured ?

        I did the following:
        set ISa server to allow
        dns from mailserver to dns server
        also from dns server to external
        allow clients to send email through isa

          You messages says DNS lookup failed so that is where you should start.
          Can your mailserver resolve www.google.com to an IP address, if not, then you need to look at why. Does it get its DNS from AD or do you have another setup as you still haven't provided the information that Dumber requested
