  • Problems resetting W2003 password

    Hi,

I'm using Petter Nordahl-Hagen's tool to attempt to recover the local admin password on a W2003 Server box. It's an HP NetServer that's part of an AD domain but after a hd crash I can't use an AD domain account to log on anymore.

I've successfully loaded SCSI drivers and it sees the boot partition. I successfully get a list of registry files (SAM, SECURITY etc).

I then get to the "Edit user data and passwords" stage. If I select this I then get this error:

    Cannot find value <\SAM\Domains\Account\Users\000001F4\V>

It does actually recognise the name the the local admin account (it mentions it inside the square brackets), but I constantly get that error. BTW I've used the tool to reset an XP password with no problems.

    Any ideas?

Not tried the other free tools yet. Just wondering if anyone had seen that error.
