  • XP Recovery Console Password issue (was: XP password)

I tried to go into recovery console to repair my boot. when I clicked on my Windows xp it asked for a password. I never put in a password when I installed xp. How do I get around this?
    Thanks

    Re: XP password

If there's no password you should be able to just hit <enter>

      Re: XP password

Larryd, please make sure you read the forum welcome note BEFORE posting. You are now sent to cool yourself for 14 days.

As for your question - as JeremyW said - if there wasn't any set then just press enter. If there was one, then it's the same as the local administrator's password. If you don't know that one, you can use a Windows 2000 Server or Professional CD to boot into the repair console, it will let you logon without the need to enter a password even if there was one in place.

When the 14 days are over you can come back and tell us if it worked or not.
