  • Help accessing password-encrypted files in Windows XP Pro

Hi, my windows crashed some days ago and I installed windows again in another directory to use it as another OS, now I can use windows again but as another OS and in another session, BUT, all my data and information was stored in "My Documents" folder in my other windows (the one that crashed) session which was protected by a password, and from this new session I can't acces that folder cause it says "Access Denied", anyone knows how can I get access to it and save my files?

    Thanks

If they are encrypted then read here.

If you are just getting Access Denied then you need to Take Ownership of the folders and files.

Oh I see, then I think is just access denied, how can I get ownership of folder and files if I can't open that session again?

      Thanks

A simple search on the forums would help you. Basically, find the folder, right click it, select Properties, Security, Advanced, Owner tab.
