  • Urgent Windows SBS 2003 - Administrator Account Recovery

    Hi

Basically we need to recover the Administrator password on a MS Windows Small Business Server 2003 machine. I have read the reset domain and local admin password on Windows Server 2003 articles, but I believe there is no local Administrator account on this machine. There are also no other machines on the same domain as yet. A description of how this situation occurred is provided below:

We are dealing with an urgent remote support issue. A SBS2003 machine had to be rebooted. The Administrator account was logged on with the terminal locked. A user onsite unlocked the terminal with the Administrator password and rebooted the machine immediately. When the machine restarted, the same Administrator login would not work. The machine is now unusable as Administrator was the only valid account so far. Any ideas what could have gone wrong or how the situation can be resolved. The onsite user is only available for a couple of hours at a time.

    Thanks.

How can it be that there is no default administrator account? Could it have been renamed? Isn't there any other user you can use to log on?
