  • LOGON.SCR trick did not work

    Hi Daniel,

I followed the LOGON.SCR trick instructions. I booted into the original OS, waited for the screensaver (cmd.exe), typed "net user administrator 123456" and received ""Sytem error 5 has occurred. Access is denied".

    Now what????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    'Thanks
    Tony

I am having the same problem with Windows 2000 service pack 4. I get access denied. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I find Windows XP PE handy for reseting the admin password on rouge machines.

Re: LOGON.SCR trick did not work

            Hi
I've the same situation with Win2003 SBS
I could recover local Admin Password.
            All further tricks failed ....

            net user Administrator .....
System Error 5 has occured. Access is denied.

When using the DSA.MSC trick, all relevant user fields are greyed.

It seems that the "Service account" cannot change passwords.

            any ideas?
